I remember it was my first tutorial on modeling.

Five years ago, when i first put my hands on 3ds max. I still had no clue how to do anything. At all !

My first tutorial was from the 3dsMax author resources… Yes, yes, i pressed F1 and there was that, “modelling a soldier” tutorial.

This was my first tutorial, and till now the most inspiring one. It gave me an insight on how things work in max. I will never forget it.

Cheers !

I used Google a lot. When I started out with Cinema 4D I just googled tutorials for Cinema 4D and worked through everyone I found.

CG Tuts might help you out, there are a wide variety of tutorials on that site – http://cg.tutsplus.com/

Thanks, yeah I have drilled through cgtuts and all the other sites, I was just wondering if anyone had that one single tutorial (for them) where they just suddenly got it?

Like @3alisha said, sometimes you find one that keeps you going! lol

Also I am interested in the paid for classes/dvd. Just wondering which are your fav

I never used paid dvds and classes, but look, i have very decent skills.

In fact, i really advise you to learn everything on your own. In that case, you’d basically know how EVERYTHING works. This is why self-taught designers are usually more sought after..

Learning by yourself takes time, but has better results. Another positive side is that there are no material expenses (training classes could be very expensive).

Cheers !

“F1” for me too :) Maya’s Help was the place i frequently visited. The version was Alias Wavefront Maya 4.5… and the interface looked somewhat like MSPaint :D Woh, that was a long time back.
