Cassette | BASF PII Reference Maxima| 1995
In 1962 the Dutch company Phillips invented the mythical Cassette Compact. This recording device was designed to record voice dictations, its great fidelity of recording managed to expand its horizon of exponential sound use, until it became a standard audio format, as was the vinyl record, the Phillips company under pressure from companies Japanese like Sony chose to donate their patent so that other manufacturers could design their version for sale, until practically the beginning of the 21st century, cassettes with different qualities continued to be designed and manufactured, nowadays, it seems to have a great appeal among lovers of the sound world.
SCI-FI Design.
BASF, the well-known great German chemical company, which like Agfa has its “dark past” already outlined in history (to expand, you know, look up the historical bibliography, Google to find out more), one of the forerunners also in the commercialization of the tape recorders and compact cassettes that the Dutch / Belgian Phillips devised. The “fierce” competition in terms of offering high quality tapes was a clear objective for the German brand, for this reason they created several series in various qualities and aesthetics, to adapt to the client according to their needs for quality, price and designs, this innovative cassette aesthetically speaking it was quite innovative and surprising, a “futuristic” concept, in the “science fiction” way, the “x’s” that cross each bovine, trying to break its typical morphology of the two striking “eyes”, in addition to the reading part , clearer than I know, also opens the cassette on that side. This design perhaps a little “overloaded” visually that had its good number of followers, a last trend, before the arrival of the “minimalism” of the 90s, cleaner lines, almost without vertices, or the “tape reel” of TEAC, with this concept, which also offered a good range of quality tapes with formulations derived from the Super-Avilyn concept..
