Cassette | Phillips C60| 1963
In 1962 the Dutch company Phillips invented the mythical Cassette Compact. This recording device was designed to record voice dictations, its great fidelity of recording managed to expand its horizon of exponential sound use, until it became a standard audio format, as was the vinyl record, the Phillips company under pressure from companies Japanese like Sony chose to donate their patent so that other manufacturers could design their version for sale, until practically the beginning of the 21st century, cassettes with different qualities continued to be designed and manufactured, nowadays, it seems to have a great appeal among lovers of the sound world.
At the end of the 90s Sony designed this series of compact cassettes called “XI”, which, among the obvious characteristics of innovative design, incorporated advanced technology in terms of recording and listening quality, in this cassette, in “ferro” format such as such is indicated for not very demanding audio recordings, but Sony opted to implement quality material with this XI series “Normal”, with the supplier par excellence of the chemical company Pfizer that since 1973, from the pigment MO 2228, has been producing and improving several generations in chemical compounds for recording and listening, in this case with the “ferro” range, with 120 μs EQ, among others, made in Cinema 4D for 3D Ocean, is part of the great megapack consisting of 32 units of Cassettes.
The first cassette to hit the market
The Phillips C60 was the first cassette to hit the market, in 1963, although as we have already described, it was in 1962 that the first prototype of the Compact Cassette, as mankind knew it, was shown to the world. After several attempts to compact the traditional anabolic audio recording tapes, such as the pioneering and very similar one designed by RCA (USA) in 1958, Fidelipac (NAB cartridge). Introduced in 1959 by Collins Radio at the 1959 NAB Convention, then came the 8-track cassettes whose lifespan and loyalty were not very prolific. Phillips also designed the recordplayer for its reproduction Pillips EL 3300. The performance of this Cassette was very surprising in the year of its launch, and later, thanks to the contributions of chemical companies reviewed, the quality of the recording / reproduction was improved, but That, they are seeing in our CassetteMania collections or our CassetteMegaPack for a surprising price.
