Nature in the notes

I haven’t been very active on Audio Jungle lately, but I’m starting to get back into it. I’m finding some time in my schedule to work with my instrumental ideas, and I love writing this way.

Lately, most of my work with music/audio has been done either in the songwriting department, or freelance recording. I haven’t taken as much time for strictly instrumental material, but I do enjoy writing it when I get the time. Usually I come up with a musical idea and hope to turn it into a song complete with lyrics, but often times I find that I can’t develop that musical idea in a way that lends itself well to a song. So instead I just arrange it into a short instrumental piece.

The instrumental pieces I do compose are very nature-inspired. I envision a scene, and try to paint that picture into music. There’s a certain mysterious, magical feeling I get when I take the time to appreciate the nature around me that I know no amount of human study could explain. That’s the element I aim to capture with music. I wouldn’t say I’m a transcendentalist, but my writing does have that bend.

A lot of my musical influences come out of French impressionism, some minimalism, jazz harmony, and then more of my natural influences that I listen to in my car (like folk-pop, indie rock…). My style is still developing. I enjoy experimenting with new harmonies, and teaching myself unusual guitar chords. My style is a bit unique, so I have few resources to model my music after. The cost of being unique or experimental is that the music is more difficult to market being that it’s not made for the masses. But I know there are those out there that will enjoy my music and envision the right applications for it.

On that note, I would appreciate any comments or feedback on my music. If you’re a buyer, I would love to know what you found compelling about the music, or what it was used for. And if it becomes part of a larger project, send me a link when it’s done, I’d love to see it! Thanks!
